Nygel's 1st year:

Nygel is born on 2nd November 2007. He is growing rapidly the past few weeks, I think he will be a big boy...

5 months old

Nygel is already 45 cm in height. His sister Ziva is about 40 cm at this age. Nygel won't swim yet, just peddling with his feet, that is far enough for him. At the time we are busy with puppy course. Every day we take a long walk in the woods, Raika and Nygel are really enjoying playing with the other dogs.

Nygel is following the commands and exercises better every day, and for a treat he will do anything ;-)

(sit, down, flat, stand, come by, wait etc)

Nygel understands some of the commands without the treats, he is eager to learn!

Nygel is always in for a game, with his bal or other toy. The search game is a bit difficult for him, he is just "all over the place" and has no calmness to stop and think...so in the future we won't do the search game after playtime ;-) but after a rest period...

We have visited the beach with Nygel and Raika. Nygel had his first swimming adventure, although he didn't intend to go swimming, he just wanted the ball ;-)

6 months

Nygel is growing up fast, his coat is getting longer and his muscles are developing. He has a nice rear! His teeth are al changed and his ears are still up! Raika and Nygel really have become friends and can play together a lot, although Raika sometimes has to show she's boss. Really funny to see how she stands tall.

8 months

Nygel is already 8 months old and a real youngster. A couple of weeks ago he finished his first obedience course with great results. At the moment we are attending the 2nd obendience course (Raika finished this course just last week with great results as well).

Nygel is doing great, he is really enjoying the daily walks in the woods, often we go to the beach as well or to another (national) park.

1 year old

Nygel and Raika went to a view day of KCWF (dog fancy society), a day full of informationstands, demonstrations of dog sports and games. We have done some agility, flyball and dog frisbee with Raika and Nygel, we all had fun and now we are at home, exhausted from this fun day!

On 2nd November Nygel's first birthday is a fact, still a big youngster in behavior and appearance, he is really playfull and plump, which makes him adorable! He is eager to learn, play and work for us and sometimes tries to train us as well, the rascal. At the moment he tries to act tough to other dogs, but quickly turns to his playfull behavior.

He is doing really well, he has finished his 2nd obedience course with good results. We are starting the 3rd obedience course next month and will start agility next year, I think he will love it.

Nygel from his 1st year until...

May 2009

Nygel is 53cm tall and now 1,5yrs old looking more mature. Nygel has finished his Obedience B course (3rd course). Beginning of June we will start with Agility. The vet made an X-ray of his hips and they looked fine, we got an OK for Agility!

Nygel is still a youngster in his behaviour, but als things he is a tough guy sometimes ;-)

September 2009

Nygel has been to the dogshow for dogs without pedigrees, together with Raika. Besides all the demonstrations and workshops of various dogsports, which was really fun! Nygel was evaluated by a judge, we were asked to come back for the 'final evaluation', together with 10 other dogs. Nygel became 1st and we are very proud of him!

November 2009

Nygel has passed his "Agility beginners" exam. It was very exiting day, as we had to start first. I am very proud of him as we did good despite the nerves.

Mei 2010

Nygel has passed his "Agility advanced" exam. Just a few minor mistakes. We are very proud.

Also we participated in an Agility debutanten wedstrijd . Nygel had to adjust to all the noises and audience. We had to run 3 courses and every course he did a bit better.

September 2010

We attended a dog show for dogs without a pedigree, it was held at the KCWF in Heiloo. Not only did Nygel receive a great report, also a 1st price, we are very proud!

In november Nygel passed his Agility (star level) exam, he now has 3 Agility certificates

May - Nov 2011

Nygel finished his Agility course star2, unfortunately I made a mistake at the end and Nygel jumped back over a hurdle, if I had reacted a little later then we would have finished a great course, no faults.

This summer we didn't follow an Agility course, we focussed on some new sports, Flyball and Frisbee. Aparently Nygel had a talent for these sports, after just a few lessons he understood the Flyball game, we had loads of fun. Ofcourse understanding the game is just the beginning, now we need to train him to excellerate more and make less mistakes with taking the 4 jumps back to the handler.

Dog frisbee was even more fun and also a lot harder to learn. We also attented a demo at an Animal Event in Purmerend (NL). I was very nervous for the exam, but luckily Nygel did well and we passed with good grades. Also the freestyle was a first for us, forgot to show a lot, but ultimately got a 3rd placement. Very proud of Nygel.

Now we are getting ready for a new Agility season, training with a group that has experience with matches and we hope te learn a lot and are ready for the Agility match season of 2012.

Also Sheep Herder is something we started again, Nygel and I need to learn a lot, but he really has it in his DNA. Great to see a dog who wasn't teached herd sheep just naturally. Now after 2 lessons he does some outruns 'come bye' 'away' and also steady walking the sheep towards me in a straight line.
